Design of Enclosure for a Gantry Machining Center
Dimensions [m]
5,8 x 2,8 x h 6,7
Materials
Carbon steel, aluminum, polycarbonate
The design study for the industrial protective system of a gantry milling machine is outlined below.
The aim of this concept is to clad and integrate the various volumes that characterize this type of machinery through design, without adding complexity to the product and with a focus on production costs.
Design concept
An example of visual appeal applied to design to cost is the perforated panels of the tool magazine.
The choice was made to use simple press-bent panels instead of expensive polycarbonate surfaces or less attractive mesh protection panels.
The round hole pattern, inspired by the world of architecture, not only ensures visibility inside but also adds visual lightness, blending seamlessly with the design of the casing.
